164/365 Sad Songs and Waltzes

I’m writing a song all about you
A true song as real as my tears
But you’ve no need to fear it
’Cause no one will hear it
Sad songs and waltzes
Aren’t selling this year

I love this Cake cover of this Willie Nelson tune. The trumpet solo makes me wanna waltz in some smoky bar.

If you do want to hear it, the only link I found on Youtube has rather silly visuals. Feel free to close your eyes and soak in the bitterness.

Why did I see the title as Sad Songs and Walruses?

You are Beatle-brained.

That must be it.

Or maybe you're thinking of another slimy thing to serve with butter, garlic, pepper, and three tablespoons of port...

H: Isn't he always thinking of that?

BTW, I really miss not having a Helen blog to go to! (I say, even as I am way behind in my blog reading/commenting.)

I have just found out somewhat regretfully that indigo bunting is a kind of bird....Indigo is a growingly popular name amongst a certain parent demographic at my daughter's primary school...hence the confusion; and bunting is such a fabulous Joyce Grenfell kind of name.....

PK: It's funny, when I chose it, it never occurred to me that it could be taken as first/last name stuff (that's how bird nerdy I am). Not until people started shortening it to Indigo, which is kind of fun. On my latest medical editing project, whenever I see "indigo carmine," I wonder why that phrase never hit me as someone's name before now...

Should we not call you Indigo then? When I first saw "Indigo Bunting" I thought it was some sort of literary reference, and didn't want to appear stupid by asking about it.

I must say I do feel liberated at my blog-freeness, but I would really miss reading them if everyone else decided to do the same thing. So I am glad there are more devoted/disciplined people out there.

Oh, no, I like being called Indigo. I just didn't see it coming.

I'll look forward to the day you're blogging again. Very glad you're still reading. (If you weren't, why write?)
