170/365 Bye Bye Blackbird

Pack up all my care and woe
Here I go, singing low
Bye bye blackbird

Today is one of those days I’m thinking about quitting this project. I mean, where is everybody?

Susan, thank goodness, still seems to be in. Bridgett is keeping me going. I see this morning that she’s posted more entries, which I am looking forward to reading just as soon as I get some work done.

I miss the rest of y’all. I’m glad Helen’s still reading.

Lisa, Lisa, this is your baby! Where are you?

Maybe the fact that I keep trying means that here it is, summer, and I have no life. It’s possible. I just sit here, editing medical copy, working on a quarterly journal, and hoping some song will come to me to post each morning. And then I hope to find the time to post it. Steal the time, really.

But I’m running out of steam.

At 182/183, I’d be halfway through. Maybe that should be my goal. To just make it halfway.

Here are the Jazz Birds singing Henderson/Dixon’s “Bye Bye Blackbird.”

No one here can love or understand me
Oh, what hard luck stories they all hand me

The same steam must be feeding both of our engines, because I'm running out of it, too. I haven't run out of songs--I don't think we'll ever run out of songs--but my motivation to continue is based largely on not wanting to lose touch with you and Helen. Perhaps we should try email?

That could work. I also mourn the fact that I'm not getting anything written for Alphabird as a result of these daily postings...

Unfortunately, my obsessiveness makes me want to finish things I have started. It could be liberating to quit, but it could take me awhile to shake the twinge of guilt.

One thing I love about you is that you will never run out of songs!

Oh no, this isn't your swan song is it?! I know I have no right to complain about someone else stopping, but I would so miss reading these. Although, as long as I have your other blogs to go to I will still feel connected; like you Susan, I don't want to lose touch.

It isn't my swan song yet, I don't think. I'm just getting all threateny.

But it may be "Prelude to a Swan Song."

Swans are very threateny creatures; I remember being chased by one at some park when I was little.

My understanding is that they can be very mean. I got goosed once (but by a goose, not a swan).

No no don't stop!! I'm almost all alone finishing my x365 and don't want you guys (any of you) to disappear from the web!

PS ... But if I had to choose, I want Alphabird to stay, though I love everything you write!

Mali: I won't disappear completely. It's too much fun. And I love everything you write. (Doesn't that work out well?) Don't you dare disappear post365!
