48/365 Hallelujah

By the time I was in ninth grade, I knew my way around the alto line of Handel’s “Hallelujah” chorus. Later, I was impressed by the Roches’ cover, as they made their three voices sound about as full as four parts, picking and choosing which needed to be there in each moment. Once, this Christian guy told me that he thought their singing this piece was sacrilegious. OK, maybe I’m agnostic, but I couldn’t disagree more.

GREAT Choice.

You are such a hip Chick Indigo!
When I was in college I loved the Roches. I had one of their LPs. I seriously doubted anyone else on the planet knew who they were.

BTW saw you made a reference to Poi on someone's blog (was it Deloney's?) I plan to do a few PDP songs soon. Being from Chicago made me a HUGE Poi fan.

LO: Yeah, I was a huge Roches fan—gonna post at least one more, but could post twenty. I can't believe someone else knows who Poi Dog Pondering is! I want to post something about them too (although I only ever got one of their CDs, and youtube wasn't helping me out sharing a fav song...) Maybe we'll post on the same day. It seems to be happening.

When I saw the title, first I thought it was the Leonard Cohen song, then I flashed on the Judy Garland standard, "Get Happy," ("Shout Hallelujah, c'mon, get happy, you better chase all your blues away...").

But lolo's right, you are definitely one hip chick.
