10/365 My Funny Valentine

I found this Rodgers and Hart classic in a book of show tunes kept at the piano. As best I can remember, the first time I heard it was by playing it myself, as a kid, learning what had to have been a relatively easy version. I don’t know when I first heard a true cover, and I’m such a devotee, I can’t think of a version I haven’t liked. Yesterday I spun Cleo Laine’s. Hers is so slow and starts on a note so low, I can barely reach it.

What a perfect post for this Lover's Day.
Hope you and Tim have your own Funny Valentine's Day.

As for me I'll just listen to Bowie playing Modern Love for a while. Then maybe a little Cure.

I've always like the version from Cheers, with Lilith singing to Frasier.

I'm sure yours is good too.

I've heard Elvis Costello's version.

Do you think B. Kiddo has a song running through her head but she can't remember the name of it?

LO: Thanks. We're having a blizzard, so Tim's actually working at home with me today. Maybe we'll get a little Valentine's break.

MM: I bet I saw that and can't remember. Or, maybe I didn't. Would be fun, nonetheless.

D: I wonder if I've heard Elvis's wife do this? Seems likely (but haven't searched my collection). Good guess on B. Kiddo. That chick has sooo much music. She's probably just sitting around listening to it now.

I.B. Do you think B.K. has any boot leg Dead? My brothers stole my stash.

Deloney- I love the Elvis version of this song. But I love anything Elvis does, he's a GOD to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if BK has bootleg Dead. I think the last time I saw her alive, she told me she'd seen the Stones like three times or something and once had tickets then didn't go.
